Is this evil?

I've noticed of late that most people that call our home think that my voice is my daughter Sarah's.

Also, of late, BOYS have been calling this 12-year-old, bright, blond-haired, blue-eyed daughter of mine. Ahem.

So, when a boy calls... for the 5th time in 24 hours... and I answer the phone... and he says, "Hi Sarah!" ... would it be evil of me to play along and see just what he's up to?

Hmmm....

I guess it would be.

But it sure is tempting!!!

Nikki - I'm all for learning valuable information!!! I am feeling SO overprotective right now! :) I'm glad to see a "smart" vote! :)

Summer - Yes, you WOULD! I need to take a few pages out of your book. :)

Hi Lauren!

LOL! Yes, it IS evil! My daughter was HORRIFIED when I mentioned this to her (she reads my blog occasionally, so I figured I should mention it before she saw it in print). :) BUT, then she said I could NEVER PULL IT OFF! Well! I see that as a CHALLENGE, don't you? :)

HA! I don't know, Chris. You might end up hearing something you will wish you hadn't!! HA HA!

Weird that they just assume it's her. That seems rude. Maybe they need to be taught some better phone etiquette. I like your idea.

Hi Daisy! That thought occurred to me as well... but she's only 12. I figure I actually have a couple of years left before REAL worry sets in. :)

Hi ALF! Your post was funny in a very sad way today! :) Glad that didn't happen to you! And I agree on the phone etiquette. I'm rather used to being treated by a secretary by most people that call here for my husband, though. They KNOW me, but don't even say, "Hi." It's odd. So, rude seems to be the norm most of the time when I answer the phone.

Given the chance, I must admit - I might pretend to be my daughter . . .

It is SO TEMPTING! I"m keeping my options open and answering the phone A LOT. :)

Ha! Not evil but it could come in handy.

I am not handling boys being interested in my daughter very well :(

Before I met my husband, everyone called me Chris.

My mother's name is also Chris.

The day the skeezy guy who was trying to date my 15 year old self, and called me, and got my mom, and launched into all the stuff he wanted to do to me and how much I was gonna like it, oh, no. That was a very mortifying day, indeed.

Thankfully, I could say to my mom, "Yeah, well, that is WHY I have not gone OUT with him, OK?"

Ugh. Be careful what you listen for...and remember your daughter is not entirely responsible for what comes out of OTHER peoples' mouths.

:D

Hi Jennifer,

I'm with you!!! Last summer, when she was ELEVEN and on the swim team, some boy kept trying to put his arm around her and STEAM about came out my ears. But, I stayed calm, somehow, and it all blew over.

Nope. Can't say I'm handling it very well either. But, I do have a DARN FINE teacher glare that I perfected while teaching 6th grade. :) I think that'll scare off a few. :)

HI Christine,

Before I met my husband everyone called me Chris and now everyone calls me Christen (or some version of that b/c the spelling seems to flummox many folk).

I think your mom did a good thing for you. That was just scary! You were FIFTEEN. Holy crap! At least you had the sense to stay away from him.

And this is why I worry! But, fortunately, Sarah DOES have an former college football player for a dad. That goes a long way toward intimidation, I believe. :)
